✦ How CarbCue works ✦
We built CarbCue to do one thing well: take a fast photo of a meal and turn it into a useful carb estimate plus an idea of how the next couple of hours might play out. Here's exactly what happens when you tap the shutter.
01
Open the iOS app, point the full-screen camera at the meal, tap the shutter. Sandwich, pasta, juice box, restaurant tray — it all works. No barcode, no menu picker.
02
Within seconds you get a total carb count plus an item-by-item breakdown — and a confidence rating so you know how sure the model is. Edit any item before saving.
03
We show an illustrative absorption curve — fast, moderate, or slow — based on the foods detected. It's not a glucose prediction. It's a picture of what to expect.
Two meals can have the same carb count and play out completely differently. A juice box and a bowl of oatmeal might both add up to 30 grams. One is a fast spike. The other is a slow, gentle climb. The grams tell you "how much." The shape tells you "when."
CarbCue's curve is illustrative — it's not a personalized prediction and it doesn't know your kid's CGM trend or insulin on board. But just seeing the shape, before the meal is even on the table, makes the next two hours feel less like guessing.
We always show the curve next to the words "illustrative only." Always check with your care team. Always trust the CGM in real time. CarbCue is a planning tool, not a dosing tool.
